As of today, this is where we are at in terms of our budget. I actually thought we were a bit higher so I’m pleasantly surprised! In the next few days we will be buying materials for the roof and that will add probably $10,000 + to our numbers. So far, we are pretty much on track in terms of where I thought we’d be. I think once we get into the electrical and grid inter-tie system I will find I’ve underbudgetted slightly.

Hi Sandra,
I don’t know if you have heard about this event. Earthship Biotecture will be having a seminar on earthship construction in Lone Butte, BC on August 14, 2010. For more information please read:

Thank you so much for keeping the world informed of your budgeting. I think you guys are doing a great job showing us all how its done and proving that an earthship is doable for the average person. I plan on constructing one in the next few years with my wife in Ontario and am much obliged for all your information. Keep up the great work!

Yes, we’ve been on their email list for some time. The folks building up in Lone Butte in August helped on our house last fall for a day and we’ve been in touch with them recently. The seminar isn’t quite geared to what Chris would find useful and we weren’t prepared to take a week off our construction to volunteer. However, we hope to get up there for a visit during the work weeks through the owner/builders! It’s very exciting to have the EB crew in our area…we don’t feel so lonely in our endeavor now that there is another one being built. Yay!
