The car is officially for sale. It’s listed on Kajiji, Craig’s list and will appear in the Interior Buy and Sell next week. Katie and I peeled all my bookkeeping decals off and I took it through the car wash. We’ve been keeping the interior clean and when it’s just a bit warmer, I’m going to shampoo the inside. Once the roads are a bit cleaner, we plan to replace the windshield. It got nailed this winter a few times and really needs to be replaced.
I’ve been working in Kamloops 2-3 times a week and with the latest spike in gas prices, I’ve been reducing my speed overall, both going and coming. I’m hoping to stretch our gas dollars a bit. I can make two trips and a bit on a tank of gas (50 litre tank). Easing off the gas pedal has given me (I think) about an 1/8 of a tank extra. That’s a guess. The next time I fuel the car, I’m going to start recording my useage and report here. The trade-off is that I add an extra 10 minutes to the trip each way. On the upside, I get to listen to my own radio station longer, without fights from the kids…
Chris has been searching online for a Delica van. Until we sell the car, we don’t want to buy another vehicle, so we are taking our time to find what we want. When Chris took the kids flower basket selling (4-H fundraiser, proceeds to be donated to the new Agriplex at the North Thompson Fall Fair ground), he noticed that a neighbour had a Delica! She loves it but has not converted it. From what Chris could tell, they bought it at auction in Japan, and paid somebody to import it, saving several thousands of dollars. Inherent in this, of course, is the risk of having a piece of rusty junk arrive at the Port of Vancouver. A dealer will certify the vehicle and provide a limited warranty.
Not that that’s ever stopped us from doing things ourselves!!
So things are progressing, albeit slower than we’d like. 🙂
